Uijeongbu City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Donggeun) held the opening ceremony for the "WOORI Senior IT Happiness Learning Center" at the Songsan Senior Welfare Center (Director Choi Dayeon) on December 3, 2025, and began educational programs to strengthen digital skills for seniors.

View original imageMore than 100 people attended the opening ceremony, including Mayor Kim Donggeun, officials from Woori Bank, heads of local organizations, and residents. The event included congratulatory remarks from guests, a progress report on the project, and a tour of the facility.
In particular, a "Smart Manager," who is both a participant in the senior employment program and the future dedicated instructor for the Happiness Learning Center, drew attention by presenting the project progress report and demonstrating AI devices.
Mayor Kim Donggeun stated, "The seniors of Uijeongbu, who continuously learn and take on new challenges, make our city more vibrant. Through the Happiness Learning Center, we will work to bridge the generational digital divide and lay the foundation for all citizens to participate equally in the digital environment."

The "WOORI Senior IT Happiness Learning Center" is a public-private partnership initiative. Woori Bank provided approximately 100 million won worth of digital devices and funding to create the educational environment, while the Songsan Senior Welfare Center will offer ongoing digital education tailored to seniors. Going forward, the center also plans to promote senior care programs linked with AI technology.
