Gyeonggi Tourism Organization Completes Development of Two 'Sound Tour' Programs for the Visually and Hearing Impaired
The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization, in collaboration with Yeoju City and the Korea Forest Welfare Institute, has completed the development of a specialized tourism content program for the visually impaired called the 'Sound Tour.'
The Sound Tour is an accessible tourism program designed to allow visually impaired individuals, who are often excluded from visually oriented travel environments, to fully enjoy tourist destinations using various senses such as hearing and touch.
For the 'Yeoju Hwanghaksan Arboretum' course, the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization leveraged the space’s unique characteristic of being free from artificial noise, enabling participants to focus entirely on natural sounds like the wind and birdsong. The 'National Yangpyeong Healing Forest' course was designed to allow participants to safely move along barrier-free forest trails and experience forest healing.

Participants reported a high level of satisfaction as they experienced a new way of traveling that emphasized sound and sensory experiences, accompanied by expert commentary from guides.
