Air Busan Marks 10th Anniversary of Busan?Sapporo Route
Over 4,400 Flights Operated and 720,000 Passengers Carried
Driving Route Growth as the First LCC to Launch the Service
Air Busan (CEO Jung Byungsub) is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its Busan-Sapporo route.
Since becoming the first domestic low-cost carrier (LCC) to launch regular service on the Busan-Sapporo route in December 2015, Air Busan has operated a cumulative total of approximately 4,400 flights through November of this year, with total passenger numbers reaching around 720,000.
The route, which initially began with two flights per week, has expanded to seven flights per week (one daily) in response to increased demand, establishing itself as a major international route for the region. As of this year, the average load factor has remained in the low to mid-80% range, and Air Busan holds a market share of approximately 40%, the highest among airlines operating on this route.
An Air Busan representative stated, "When the route first launched, it was operated by only one airline, but since Air Busan entered the market, passenger convenience and choice have greatly increased. In particular, since Sapporo is a popular winter travel destination with consistently strong demand, we will continue to enhance travel convenience for passengers by ensuring stable service supply."
