[2025 Capital Investment Awards] This Year's "Big Deal": Han & Company Acquires SK Specialty for 2.6 Trillion Won
The acquisition of SK Specialty, the world's leading company in the specialty gas sector, by Han & Company was selected as the "Best Deal" at the 2025 Asia Capital Investment Awards.
In March of this year, Han & Company acquired an 85% stake in SK Specialty from SK for 2.6308 trillion won. SK Specialty is a global leader in the production of specialty gases used in semiconductor and display panel manufacturing processes. The company holds the top global market share in nitrogen trifluoride (NF3) and tungsten hexafluoride (WF6).
Last year, a series of major mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in related industries such as industrial gases fell through. However, Han & Company successfully completed the transaction based on a strong relationship of trust with SK Group. As a result, the deal was closed in just about three months after the signing of the stock purchase agreement (SPA).
By participating as a partner in SK Group’s proactive restructuring (rebalancing) efforts, a "win-win" model was established: large corporations secured resources to invest in their core businesses, while private equity funds (PEFs) acquired management rights of high-quality companies.
With this transaction, Han & Company maintained its track record of building partnerships with major domestic conglomerates based on trust and acquiring leading manufacturing companies to enhance global competitiveness. In fact, this acquisition marks the eighth transaction between Han & Company and SK Group. Including the subsequent acquisition of Npulse and an additional stake in SK D&D, the total number of transactions reached ten.
