Ministry of Gender Equality and Family Finalizes 2026 Budget at 2.0087 Trillion Won, Up 13% from This Year
The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced on December 3, 2025, that its budget for 2026 has been finalized at a total of 2.0087 trillion won. This represents an increase of 230.3 billion won (13.0%) compared to this year’s budget.
During the National Assembly’s budget review process, the budget was increased by a total of 9.1 billion won compared to the government’s original proposal.
An additional 1.4 billion won has been allocated to expand personnel at the Central Digital Sex Crime Victim Support Center to effectively respond to the rapidly increasing number of digital sex crimes. Another 900 million won has been added to expand free legal support for victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, and stalking. In addition, 200 million won has been allocated to fund local dedicated support centers for the healing and recovery of children and adolescents who have suffered sexual exploitation.
To reduce the waiting time for counseling through the “Youth Counseling 1388” service, 400 million won has been allocated to increase online counseling staff. Another 200 million won has been added to expand healing programs for youth who are overly dependent on media, and 400 million won has been allocated to support the renovation of aging youth welfare facilities.
The budget also includes 5.4 billion won for the establishment of a management system to operate the “National Qualification System for Childcare Providers,” which will be implemented starting in April next year.
