Gijang County Senior Welfare Center Reopens After Renovation... "Improved Dining and Leisure Environment for Seniors"
Gijang County (Mayor Jung Jongbok) announced on December 2 that it has completed the remodeling of the Gijang County Senior Welfare Center and fully reopened the facility starting this month.
On this day, Gijang County held a reopening ceremony to celebrate the newly renovated center. The event was attended by approximately 500 people, including Mayor Jung Jongbok, Park Hongbok, Chairman of the Gijang County Council, county council members, welfare center users, and local residents. The program included a progress report, commemorative speeches, congratulatory addresses, and a luncheon.
The Gijang County Senior Welfare Center, which first opened in December 2002, consists of one basement floor and three above-ground floors. It is equipped with various facilities such as a senior cafeteria, lecture rooms, a billiards room, a fitness room, and an auditorium, serving as a key hub for senior leisure and welfare. However, there have been ongoing concerns that the outdated kitchen and cafeteria environment have reduced the efficiency and comfort of meal services.
To address this, Gijang County invested 323 million won from the county budget and began a full-scale renovation of the kitchen and dining area in August, completing the project in November. The newly remodeled kitchen has improved safety and work efficiency by rearranging the cooking facilities and optimizing the meal service flow. The senior cafeteria has also been transformed into a more comfortable space through spatial reorganization and upgrades to the heating, cooling, and lighting systems.
