Jo Kiyeon, Director of the Gwangju City Youth Training Center, was recognized for these contributions and received the ministerial commendation.
Additionally, the Youth Training Activity Certification System Award is organized by the Korea Youth Work Agency to encourage operation managers who have contributed to the development and activation of the system, as well as youth who have achieved outstanding results through participation in certified programs. It is awarded to managers who have diligently operated certified training activities on site and to students who have actively developed their competencies through program participation and served as role models for other youth.
This year, in celebration of the 80th anniversary of Korea's liberation, Gwangju City Youth Training Center received positive reviews for operating a variety of certified training activities, including 'Almaengi Bal-guldan', a program that combines history education with digital technology, and 'AI Ethics for Youth in the Age of Artificial Intelligence', which fosters ethical AI utilization skills necessary in the digital era.
In particular, Kim Minsol, a fifth-grade student at Taejeon Elementary School who received the award in the participating youth category, shared her thoughts on the 'Almaengi Bal-guldan' activity, saying, "Learning history, computers, and virtual/augmented reality separately at school or private academies is not difficult. However, I believe that classes that integrate these subjects, engage in in-depth discussions and debates from various perspectives, and produce tangible results are rare. Although it took time and was sometimes challenging, it was a rewarding and high-quality class."
