Police Launch "Special Investigation Headquarters for the Three Major Special Prosecutors"... Takes Over Fallen Marine Special Prosecutor Case First
The National Office of Investigation under the National Police Agency announced on December 1 that it has established the "Special Investigation Headquarters for the Three Major Special Prosecutors" to take over cases that the three major special prosecutors were unable to complete.
Through a press release issued on the same day, the National Office of Investigation stated, "We will organize a special investigation headquarters that guarantees the independence and fairness of investigations, and proceed with investigations into cases handed over from the three major special prosecutors."
Currently, Kim Bojun, Security Investigation Deliberation Officer at the National Police Agency, has been appointed as the head of the special investigation headquarters. The head of the special investigation headquarters will conduct investigations independently in relation to their duties and report only the investigation results to Park Sungjoo, Chief of the National Office of Investigation.
The police received the case from the "Special Prosecutor for the Fallen Marine," whose investigation was completed on November 28. The investigation deadlines for the "Special Prosecutor for Insurrection" and the "Special Prosecutor for Kim Keonhee" are December 14 and December 28, respectively.
