Hidden "Blind Spots"? Yangsan City Conducts Comprehensive CCTV Survey on Elementary School Routes
Gradual Expansion of High-Definition CCTVs
Function Upgrades for a Safe School Commute Environment
"Is the route our children walk truly safe?"
Yangsan City in South Gyeongsang Province is accelerating efforts to create a safer school commute environment by conducting a comprehensive survey of security CCTVs installed along school routes at 44 elementary schools within its jurisdiction.
With the growing need to prevent crimes against children, the city plans to systematically inspect the current status and functions of CCTVs on school routes and establish directions for improvement.
The comprehensive survey will cover all major school routes for each school, focusing on key CCTV functions such as coverage area, image quality, and blind spots.
For equipment that is outdated or malfunctioning, the city will review the need for replacement. In areas with insufficient lighting, improvements such as supplemental lighting will be discussed with relevant departments. Additionally, the city plans to identify and address other vulnerable areas in a phased manner.

As this section is heavily used by students, it has been designated as a priority for new installations, and the city plans to swiftly install high-definition CCTVs through the 2025 supplementary budget.
The city expects that expanding high-definition CCTVs through this comprehensive survey will not only enhance crime prevention but also enable rapid response and accurate tracking in case of incidents. This is anticipated to significantly boost trust among parents and the local community, while greatly improving the safety level of school routes.
