Disclosure of the Draft Basic Plan and Collection of Resident Feedback
The Hapcheon Museum in Hapcheon County, Gyeongsangnam-do, announced on December 1 that it held a resident public hearing for the "Hapcheon History Experience Center Construction Project."
This public hearing was organized as part of the preliminary feasibility review process for the establishment of a public museum under Article 12-3 of the Museum and Art Gallery Promotion Act. The purpose was to share the project's basic plan with the local community and to directly gather residents' opinions.
Approximately 100 participants attended the hearing, including representatives from local organizations, village leaders, residents, and relevant experts. The Jeonbuk Institute of Economy and Society, which is in charge of the project, presented the draft basic plan for the History Experience Center, after which a wide range of opinions from county residents was collected.

The Hapcheon History Experience Center Construction Project is a complex historical and cultural facility focused on experience and education, connecting the World Heritage Okjeon Ancient Tombs and the Hapcheon Museum area. The total project budget is 6 billion won, with 50% funded by the province and 50% by the county.
The project involves constructing a new experience center building that will include experience and education facilities, an experience zone, and rest areas. Currently, a feasibility study and the establishment of the basic plan are underway, scheduled from June 2025 to February 2026.
The opinions presented at the public hearing will be actively reflected in the detailed project content and the process of supplementing the basic plan. The county plans to focus on creating an experiential historical and cultural space that both residents and tourists can enjoy by developing effective experiential events and visitor-centered routes based on local needs and feedback.
As follow-up procedures to the public hearing, the county will carry out prior consultations on the impact on national heritage, a feasibility review for the establishment of a public museum (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), preliminary evaluation (Gyeongsangnam-do Province), and a local financial investment review (Gyeongsangnam-do Province). The county also plans to proceed smoothly with each stage, including architectural planning, design competitions, and detailed design, aiming for construction to begin and be completed in 2028, with the center opening the same year.
