K-pop Heats Up Barcelona... Showcase Sells Out in 10 Minutes
Five K-pop Teams, Including Chungha and Billlie, Gather in Barcelona
Expanding Collaboration with Entry into Major Local Festivals
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency announced on the 28th that they had expanded the foundation for international cooperation in K-pop by hosting 'Korea Spotlight @ Spain' in Barcelona, Spain, over two days starting on the 24th. This program, which supports the global expansion of Korean popular music, was held in Spain for the first time, following previous editions in Thailand, Germany, and Japan.
Five teams participated in the showcase: Chungha, Billlie, Nuwera, Big Ocean, and Shaun. Tickets sold out within 10 minutes of opening for reservations, and before the event, the artists engaged with thousands of fans at Barcelona's Arc de Triomf Plaza. Big Ocean also filmed collaborative content with Grammy-winning producer Frankie Biggz.
During the event, the Korea Creative Content Agency invited nine domestic content companies and seventy representatives from the Spanish music industry to participate in a business program. Through one-on-one consultations and networking sessions, they developed concrete strategies for Korean popular music to enter the Spanish market.
