Gimpo Citizens Choose Metropolitan Rail Network Expansion as the "Top Policy" for 2025

The policy most loved by Gimpo citizens in 2025 was the "Accelerated Expansion of Seoul Subway Line 5, Seoul Subway Line 2 Sinjeong Branch, and Seoul Subway Line 9 Metropolitan Rail Network," which received 141 votes, accounting for 13% of the total.
In addition, the second, third, and fourth places were all related to transportation issues: "Approval of the Preliminary Feasibility Study for the Western Metropolitan Rapid Transit" (12%), "Reduction of Gold Line Train Intervals to 2 Minutes and 30 Seconds" (10%), and "Declaration of 50% Support for the Ilsan Bridge" (7%). The seventh place also went to the "Introduction of New Bus Routes 33 and 33-2 Connecting GTX-A Kintex Station" (5%). This demonstrates that citizens' interest remains focused on transportation issues and that efforts to resolve these matters have garnered significant empathy and support from the public.
From November 7 to November 24, Gimpo City conducted an online vote for the "2025 Top 10 News of Gimpo City" through a Naver survey form, covering 20 policies in various fields such as transportation, education, culture, welfare, and tourism. This year's Top 10 News was selected by 218 citizens, who could each choose up to 5 out of 21 candidates.
Beyond the transportation sector, "Aegibong Peace Ecological Park Ranked Second Nationwide as a Hot Place in July 2025" (6%) ranked fifth, highlighting Gimpo City's growth as a tourist destination. This was followed by "Differentiated Festivals such as the Laveniche Festival Attracting 120,000 Visitors and the Aramarina Festival Drawing 80,000 Visitors" (6%), confirming the strengthening brand value of Gimpo's signature festivals. Notably, "Hosting the 2025 Korea Reading Festival and Opening of Modam Library" (5%) ranked ninth, receiving positive evaluations for Gimpo City's efforts to expand its cultural infrastructure amid a nationwide reading boom.
Other notable entries included the "Application for District Planning of Gimpo Hangang 2 Compact City," which incorporates a wide range of smart city elements and technologies and ranked eighth (5%), drawing considerable attention from citizens. "Walking Along the Yeomha Barbed Wire and Opening the Sea: Gimpo, Korea's Leading Waterway City" (5%) ranked tenth, once again demonstrating Gimpo's progress as a waterfront city.
