Mastern Investment Management Appoints Park Hyungseok, Former Koramco CEO, as New CEO
Mastern Investment Management, an alternative investment asset management firm, announced on November 28 that it has appointed Park Hyungseok, former CEO of Koramco Asset Management, as its new CEO. This move is interpreted as an effort to strengthen the company’s management system by bringing in an external professional manager and to reinforce its mid- to long-term growth strategy.
Mastern Investment Management held a board committee meeting to recommend executive candidates and nominated Park Hyungseok, former CEO of Koramco Asset Management, as the new CEO overseeing overall management. Park is scheduled to officially assume the CEO position following approval at an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders and a board resolution on December 15.
Park Hyungseok, the newly appointed CEO, is a seasoned real estate investment expert with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in architectural engineering from Korea University and a master’s degree in real estate from Cornell University in the United States. He has previously worked at Samsung C&T, CBRE Korea’s asset management division, and served as head of real estate investment at Orion Partners Korea.
After joining Koramco Asset Management in 2013, he served as CEO for approximately eight years from 2017 until recently. He led the expansion of overseas investment portfolios and strengthened the institutional investor base. Last year, he established a Capital Markets Division directly under the CEO to support the attraction of foreign investment into domestic real estate, thereby enhancing strategic communication channels with global investors.
In addition, in July last year, he became the head of the Korean chapter of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), the world’s largest real estate and urban development research organization established in the United States, further expanding his global network on behalf of the Korean real estate industry.
This appointment is seen as a move to add Park’s global investment experience and leadership to Mastern Investment Management’s existing expertise in real asset-based management, thereby strengthening its strategic flexibility and sustainable growth momentum.
