Since taking office as mayor through a by-election in October last year, Mayor Jin has consistently focused on senior employment policies. At the time of his inauguration, there were 3,566 jobs for seniors; this number increased to 4,687 last year and to 5,433 this year. Next year, with an additional 650 jobs, the total is expected to reach 6,083. Compared to when he took office, this represents an increase of approximately 70%, meaning that one out of every 18 seniors aged 65 or older in the district-out of about 110,000-will have a job.
Mayor Jin emphasized, "After hearing firsthand accounts from seniors who said they gain vitality and feel proud to contribute to society through their jobs, I was once again reminded of the importance of senior employment," and added, "Genuine welfare begins with jobs that can enhance self-esteem."
