‘Citizens’ Unity Tree’ Illuminates Mungyeong’s Winter... Lights of Hope Shine
Lighting Ceremony Ushers in a New Year of Love and Solidarity in 2026
The winter night in Mungyeong was brightly illuminated with the light of hope. The Mungyeong Christian Council (President Moon Eunseok) held the '2025 Citizens' Unity Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony' at Mojon Park Square on the 25th, lighting the Christmas tree together with about 200 citizens to celebrate the meaning of Christmas and to express their wishes for the New Year.
The event featured a variety of programs, including congratulatory performances and hymns, scripture readings, prayers, speeches by distinguished guests, and a donation ceremony to support neighbors in need.
In particular, this year's Christmas tree was installed as a monument symbolizing civic unity and the spirit of community, and it is expected to warmly light up the streets of Mungyeong at night until January of next year.
The Mungyeong Christian Council added to the sense of inspiration at the event by donating 2 million won to support those in need at the end of the year. President Moon Eunseok said, "I hope the joy of Christmas will be delivered as a ray of hope to our citizens," and added, "I wish that the lights of the tree will become a message of love that brightens the future of Mungyeong."
Mungyeong Mayor Shin Hyunkuk said, "The light of the Christmas tree is a symbol of the love and sharing that Jesus brought to us," and continued, "I hope this light will deliver warmth and solidarity to all citizens, and that this year-end will be a time when we pay greater attention to our marginalized neighbors."
