Hampyeong County Wins 'Outstanding Case in Balanced Development Project' Award for Three Consecutive Years
Jupo District Multipurpose Center Recognized as an Outstanding Case
Hampyeong County in South Jeolla Province has showcased its resident-led regional development capabilities nationwide by being recognized as an outstanding case in the Balanced Development Project Awards for three consecutive years.
On November 26, the county announced that the Jupo District Multipurpose Center, established through the General Agricultural and Fishing Village Development Regional Comprehensive Maintenance Project, recently received the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award at the 2025 Balanced Development Project Awards hosted by the Presidential Committee for Balanced National Development.
The Presidential Committee for Balanced National Development annually evaluates subsidized projects supported by the Special Account for Regional Balanced Development, comprehensively assessing the validity, appropriateness of implementation systems, impact on the local economy, and ripple effects of projects promoted by metropolitan and basic local governments. This year, a panel of experts objectively and fairly selected outstanding cases through document reviews and on-site inspections.
The Jupo District Multipurpose Center, selected as an outstanding case this year, was highly praised for establishing a resident-centered operating model under the theme “Revitalizing Jupo, the Village Where the Evening Glow Stays,” utilizing the region’s natural scenery and tourism resources.
Residents directly operated sports facilities, an auto camping site, and water play facilities, generating revenue that was subsequently donated to support vulnerable groups, thereby playing a significant role in revitalizing the local economy and realizing community welfare.
Additionally, Lee Jisook, the manager of the Jupo District Multipurpose Center, received a commendation from the Chairperson of the Presidential Committee for Balanced National Development in recognition of her contributions to revitalizing the district.
With this award, Hampyeong County has achieved the distinction of being selected as an outstanding case in the balanced development sector for three consecutive years, following the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award for the Vulnerable Area Living Condition Improvement Project in 2023 and the institutional commendation from the Chairperson of the Presidential Committee for Balanced National Development for the City-County Capacity Building Project under the General Agricultural and Fishing Village Development Project last year.
