Pukyong National University Holds Digital Financial Inclusion Policy Idea Contest
Nine Teams, Including the Joint Team from Pukyong National University and Pusan National University, Receive Awards Including the Grand Prize
Pukyong National University (President Bae Sanghoon) held the award ceremony for the "2025 Digital Financial Inclusion Policy Idea Contest" on the 21st at the Information Convergence Building, aiming to discover financial policy ideas tailored to the Busan region.
This contest is a community innovation project organized by the Department of Digital Finance and the RISE Project Group at Pukyong National University. It was conducted for university students in Busan, with a designated topic of "Designing a 1-2 day experiential digital financial literacy education program for Busan youth," and an open topic of "Proposing digital financial inclusion policies reflecting the characteristics and needs of various groups in the Busan region."
After evaluation by external judges from industry, academia, government, and research sectors, nine teams that proposed outstanding policies addressing financial inclusion issues in the Busan area were awarded the Grand Prize, Excellence Award, Merit Award, and Encouragement Award.
The Grand Prize (Pukyong National University President's Award) went to the team of Choi Jihee from Pukyong National University, Hwang Hyebin from Pusan National University, and Choi Junhyuk, who proposed "Bada-Fin: Busan-Style Marine Inclusive Finance Policy with AI and Human Collaboration," receiving a prize of 2 million won.
They received high praise for suggesting an "integrated policy package" to address the issue of financial exclusion among elderly fishers in Busan. Their proposal included easing credit barriers through an AI-based alternative credit scoring system (B-ACSS), reducing psychological burdens related to digital access through visits by digital finance docents, and presenting a virtuous cycle marine inclusive finance model through an inclusive finance fund, earning them the top spot for best idea.
Additionally, one team received the Excellence Award (RISE Project Group Director's Award), two teams received the Merit Award (Department of Digital Finance Chair's Award), and five teams were selected for the Encouragement Award (Department of Digital Finance Chair's Award).
Ha Myungshin, Vice President of Pukyong National University and Director of the RISE Project Group, stated, "The innovative ideas of Busan's youth will greatly contribute to strengthening the region's digital financial capabilities."
