View original imageThe Jindo County Sports Club baseball team has begun intensive training in preparation for the upcoming national competition to be held this month. Founded in 2017, the team consists of 20 elementary and middle school students from the Jindo area and is coached by Kim Bonggyun, a former Haitai Tigers player.
The players are enhancing their skills by repeatedly practicing fundamentals and playing practice games every weekend at Jindo Public Stadium. They are also steadily improving their game sense through away exchange matches with youth baseball teams from neighboring regions.
Coach Kim Bonggyun is focusing on building the players' basic physical strength and improving their technical skills through physical training and one-on-one personal coaching. The players themselves are training with even greater enthusiasm as they prepare to compete in the national tournament.
From November 28 to 30, the '2025 Jindo Sports Association President's Cup Gwangju-Jeonnam Youth Baseball Tournament' will be held at the Jindogagae Baseball Stadium. Around 400 players and family members from areas including Gwangju and Mokpo are expected to visit, which is anticipated to have a positive impact on the local economy.
Team captain Park Siyoon stated, "My dream is to become a professional baseball player," and expressed his ambition, "I want to achieve good results in this tournament." Player Kim Minjun said, "I want to become an outstanding player like Kim Doyoung of the Kia Tigers."
Although the Jindo County Sports Club baseball team faces challenges due to a lack of facilities such as an indoor practice field, spectator stands, and umpire rooms, both coaches and players continue their steady training with passion. The baseball team is establishing itself as a place where children in the Jindo area can pursue their dreams and grow.
