Department of International Trade Plans to Expand Industry-Linked Education
The Department of International Trade and the Department of Global Studies at Mokpo National University recently conducted a "Glocal Marine Specialized Marine Logistics Industry Field Tour," the university announced on the 25th.
This program was held over three days and two nights to help students explore career paths and gain practical understanding by visiting sites in the marine and logistics industries.
Students visited key institutions in the marine and logistics sectors, including Busan Customs, Daesun Distilling Co.'s Gijang Plant, and Busan Port Authority, experiencing firsthand the actual operational methods and job systems.

View original imageAt the New Port Designated Container Yard of Busan Customs, they learned about export and import customs clearance procedures, bonded warehouse operations, and cases of smuggled goods detection. In particular, during their tour of Daesun Distilling Co.'s Gijang Plant, they studied the food manufacturing process, quality control systems, and the export structure and global logistics flow of the liquor industry.
They then visited the Busan Port Authority to observe the smart port strategy and operational system of Busan Port, the largest trading port in Korea.
Ma Ilhwan, Head of the Department of International Trade, stated, "This field tour was an important opportunity for students to connect their academic theories with real industrial sites," adding, "It will have provided substantial support for their career choices and job preparation."
He further emphasized, "In the face of rapid changes in the global marine and logistics industries, field-based learning is a core element in nurturing trade professionals."
Han Jinhee, Professor at the Department of Global Studies, said, "To grow into talent optimized for global business, it is essential to visit and experience industries firsthand," adding, "This field tour will broaden students' perspectives on global logistics flows and positively influence their choice of major."
The Department of International Trade plans to continue expanding practical education programs focusing on marine logistics, customs clearance, and port operations, further strengthening its role as a glocal marine-specialized university.

In addition, the university will regularize on-site education in collaboration with industries and continuously pursue programs to enhance specialized capabilities in response to changes in global supply chains.
