Japanese Media: Trump and Takaichi Coordinating Phone Call Today... To Brief on Talks with China
Amid ongoing tensions between China and Japan following Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's remarks suggesting possible intervention in the event of a Taiwan contingency, Fuji News Network (FNN) reported that final arrangements are being made for a phone call between United States President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Takaichi on November 25.
FNN, citing multiple Japanese government officials, stated that the proposal for the call came from President Trump's side. The outlet explained that President Trump, who had a phone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping on November 24, is expected to brief Prime Minister Takaichi on his discussion with President Xi.

The fact that Chinese state media conveyed President Trump's remarks about understanding the importance of the Taiwan issue appears to be related to China's strong reaction to Prime Minister Takaichi's recent comments suggesting possible intervention in a Taiwan contingency. However, President Trump did not mention the Taiwan issue or China-Japan tensions in his social media post summarizing his call with President Xi.
