SR Establishes AI Transformation Roadmap: "Aiming to Become the World's No.1 AX Railway Operator"
Complete Redesign of Safety, Services, and Public Innovation
SR, the operator of the Suseo High-Speed Railway (SRT), announced on November 24 that it has unveiled its roadmap for “Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based Digital Transformation (Advanced Transformation, AX),” and will completely redesign its railway safety, services, and public innovation sectors based on AI.
SR has set forth its vision to become “the world's number one AX-converged railway operator,” and established four key strategic directions: ▲Enhancing railway safety through AI ▲Providing customer-tailored digital services ▲Driving AI-based innovation in management and administration ▲Establishing an eco-friendly and sustainable management system. To achieve this, SR has formed an AX Promotion Task Force and subcommittees to consolidate capabilities across the entire organization, going beyond department-level projects, and is pursuing digital transformation linked to its business strategy.
SR has also focused on infrastructure and talent development to support innovation. The company operates an “AI Academy” that provides AI and data training to all employees, offering hands-on programs so that even those without technical backgrounds can integrate AI into their work.
In addition, SR is expanding external partnerships with universities and AI-specialized firms to adopt the latest technological trends and design AI application models tailored to the railway industry. Going forward, SR plans to gradually establish the institutional foundation for AI service operations by building a common AI infrastructure and revising work management regulations.
SR’s AX goal is to realize “AI-powered public service innovation for everyone,” which can be experienced by both the public and employees. The company is currently reviewing the introduction of various services, including the use of extended reality (XR) devices, internal regulation and legal guidance, and chatbots for workplace harassment and labor counseling.
