Uiseong Elevates Its Status as the "Home of Cheonhajangsa"
Comprehensive Hygiene and Service Inspections
for All Businesses Ahead of the Ssireum Competition
Uiseong County has launched a comprehensive inspection to elevate the region's hygiene and service standards ahead of the "Uiseong Cheonhajangsa Ssireum Competition."
Given that this is a large-scale sporting event attracting teams and spectators from across the country, the county announced on the 22nd that it has implemented an "intensive management system during the event period," focusing on cleanliness, safety, and hospitality as core principles.
The county conducted pre-event hygiene inspections of local restaurants and lodging establishments in cooperation with consumer food hygiene monitors and the Uiseong branch of the Korea Foodservice Industry Association.
Businesses were instructed to extend their operating hours until 11 p.m. during the competition and to maintain normal operations on weekends and public holidays to maximize visitor convenience.
Strict guidance was also given to ensure accurate labeling of menus and prices, as well as adherence to proper pricing.
The county also made courteous service to athletes, officials, and spectators a key inspection item.
In cases of customer complaints about unfriendliness, immediate corrective action was required, and banners welcoming athlete teams were displayed at participating restaurants to enhance the event atmosphere.
Hygiene inspections focused on factors that prevent food poisoning, such as kitchen cleanliness, food ingredient storage, staff uniforms and mask usage, management of fresh ingredients, and checks on refrigerators and freezers. For lodging establishments, the inspections centered on bedding hygiene, removal of dust, moisture, and mold in rooms, as well as the cleanliness of towels and gowns.
Minor violations identified during the inspections were corrected on the spot, and the county plans to continue monitoring non-compliant businesses until the end of the competition.
Kim Jusu, Governor of Uiseong County, emphasized, "It is our duty to provide the best possible environment so that everyone visiting Uiseong can stay without inconvenience," adding, "We will make every effort to conduct thorough hygiene and safety inspections to enhance the region's image and ensure the success of the event."
