The 1st Venture Week to Be Held Marking 30 Years of the Venture Industry
To Be Held from November 26 to December 2
Korea Fund of Funds Marks 20th Anniversary... Nationwide Festival Planned
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on November 23 that, together with the Korea Venture Business Association, Korea Venture Investment, Korea Venture Capital Association, and Korea Technology Finance Corporation, it will host the '1st Venture Week' from November 26 to December 2.
This year marks a special occasion as it is both the 30th anniversary of the venture industry and the 20th anniversary of the Korea Fund of Funds. Venture Week has been organized to share the achievements of ventures and startups that have driven innovation in the Korean economy and industry over the past 30 years, and to remind the public that ventures remain a key growth engine for future industries.
Until now, there have been official themed weeks for small business owners, SMEs, and mid-sized enterprises under the law, but the industry has expressed disappointment over the lack of an official week dedicated to the venture ecosystem. In response, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups has proactively launched the first Venture Week with participation from both the public and private sectors. Currently, an amendment to the Venture Business Act, which would establish Venture Week as a statutory event, has been proposed and is under review by the National Assembly.
During Venture Week, starting with the opening event-the SME & Venture M&A Conference-a total of 30 associated events will be held nationwide. Various events will take place across the country, led by regional SME and Startup Agencies, making it a nationwide venture festival that brings together regions, generations, and industries. Specific events include the Venture Billion Club Commemoration Ceremony, Korea VC Awards, Regional Angel Investment Hub Angel Investor Meetup, Boom-Up Concert with Accelerators, Korea Venture Youth Festival, and the Venture 30th Anniversary Ceremony.
