This agreement is being recognized as a "qualitative turning point" that goes beyond simply securing sales channels, as it elevates the international brand value of Gimcheon agricultural products.
The signing ceremony was attended by Baek Nakho, Mayor of Gimcheon; Ko Sanggu, Chairman of K Market; Lee Seungwoo, Vice Chairman of the Gimcheon City Council; Kim Eungsuk, City Council Member; Choi Jinho, Head of Sae Gimcheon Nonghyup; and Kim Taehun, Head of Overseas Sales at Gyeongbuk Trade. They all expressed their commitment to the global expansion strategy for Gimcheon agricultural products and to building a sustainable distribution partnership.
K Market, established in 2002, is Vietnam's leading Korean food distribution company, operating over 150 stores and generating annual sales of 150 billion won. It serves as a powerful distribution platform that leads local trends in Korean food products.
Through this agreement, Gimcheon City has successfully institutionalized a stable export partnership by structuring connections between producers, distributors, and overseas markets based on K Market's nationwide distribution network.
In particular, the fact that Gimcheon Shine Muscat grapes have started to be served as in-flight meals on Vietnam Airlines through K Market is seen as a symbolic achievement, imprinting the premium image of Gimcheon agricultural products in the Asian market. Local consumers have responded positively to the high quality, sweetness, and trusted origin of these products.
The Gimcheon grape promotional and sales event, held in conjunction with the signing ceremony, took place from November 14 to 23 at five major K Market locations in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The event saw a steady stream of local consumers, effectively resulting in a "sold-out event." During the event, Gimcheon grapes received feedback such as "excellent sweetness and texture" and "distinctive quality even among Korean products," significantly boosting both brand trust and awareness in the Vietnamese market.
Baek Nakho, Mayor of Gimcheon, stated, "This agreement serves as a practical bridgehead for Gimcheon agricultural products to expand beyond Vietnam and into the broader Southeast Asian market. We will accelerate efforts to secure global competitiveness by diversifying export items and strengthening locally tailored marketing strategies."
