Hwaseong City: "Next Year's Three Core Projects Are AI, Local Economy, and Integrated Care"
Full-Scale Implementation of 83 Projects Linked to the National Policy Agenda
"Active Inclusion in Next Year's Main and Supplementary Budgets"
Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province will focus its administrative capabilities for next year on three core areas: artificial intelligence (AI), the local economy, and integrated care.
On November 20, Hwaseong City announced that, based on this policy direction for 2025, it has identified and will actively pursue 83 related projects to proactively address the government's national policy agenda.
Previously, the city launched a "National Policy Agenda Response Task Force (TF)" in August to identify projects linked to the 123 national policy tasks, focusing on those relevant to the city. Hwaseong plans to implement the 83 selected projects by including them in next year's main budget and supplementary budget proposals.
In the main budget proposal recently submitted to the city council, 60 of the 83 projects, totaling 208.8 billion won, have been included, along with 12 non-budget projects. Seven projects will be reflected in next year's supplementary budget, while the remaining four will be pursued through proposals to the central government.
In the AI sector, the city has allocated budget for the "AI-Based Future Mobility City Development Project" and the "AI Innovation School Project." Hwaseong will focus on building a demonstration city for future mobility technologies, such as autonomous driving, centered around the Hwaseong Autonomous Driving Living Lab Center. At the same time, it plans to foster future AI talent through customized AI literacy education for public officials and citizens.
In the local economy sector, the city aims to revitalize neighborhood businesses by issuing 1 trillion won worth of "Hope Hwaseong Local Currency" and to enhance the export competitiveness of local small and medium-sized enterprises by expanding support for export logistics costs.
In the integrated care sector, Hwaseong will go beyond elderly and disabled care to provide "Hwaseong Baro-Iut Integrated Care," a customized, life-cycle integrated care service for vulnerable groups. The city's suicide prevention center will be divided into two types-urban and rural-tailored to local characteristics, to provide region-specific suicide prevention and mental health services.
Based on the identified projects linked to the national policy agenda, Hwaseong plans to propose initiatives aligned with the new government's philosophy and to strategically respond to project competitions and secure national and provincial funding from central ministries.
