Alliance Between "12.12: The Day" Producer and Shinsegae Content Company
Production company Hive Media Corp and Shinsegae content company Mindmark signed a strategic business agreement on the 20th. With the goal of becoming the top studio in Korea, the two companies will establish a cooperative system to mutually invest in and distribute each other's productions and investments over the next five years.
Founded in 2014, Hive Media Corp has produced titles such as "Inside Men," "Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum," "The Man Standing Next," and "12.12: The Day." In particular, "12.12: The Day," released in 2023, attracted 13.12 million viewers, becoming the highest-grossing film of the year. This year, "Secret: Untold Melody," "Opposition Party," and "Boss" have all achieved box office success.
The series "Made in Korea," starring Hyun Bin and Jung Woosung, will be released through Disney+ on December 24. "Assassin(s)," directed by Hur Jinho and starring Yoo Haejin, Park Haeil, and Lee Minho, is currently in its final stages of filming. "The Gardeners" (working title), the next project from director Nam Donghyub of "Handsome Guys" and starring Song Kangho, is also set to begin filming next year.
Mindmark, a content company established by Shinsegae in 2020, began producing dramas after acquiring Studio329. The company has introduced works such as "Crime Puzzle," "Glitch," and "Wedding Impossible." In 2022, Mindmark expanded into film investment and distribution, releasing titles including "Decibel," "Honey Sweet: 7510," "Love Reset," "A Normal Family," and "Boss."
Next year, "Sad Tropics," directed by Park Hoonjung and invited to the competition section of the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival, will be released. The tvN drama "How to Become a Building Owner in Korea," starring Ha Jungwoo and Lim Soojung, will also air in the first half of the year.
