On November 20, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it had conditionally approved the designation of the maintenance area and the maintenance plan decision (draft) for the "Transit-Oriented Revitalization Project and Urban Maintenance-Type Redevelopment in the area of 318-99 Sadang-dong, Dongjak-gu" at the 17th Urban Planning Committee meeting.
The project site covers an area of 10,677.7 square meters adjacent to Namsung Station on Line 7 and Sadang-ro. It includes the area formerly used as the Beomjin Passenger Bus Depot, which is currently being utilized as a public parking lot.
According to the plan, the site will feature a 37-story residential complex with a total floor area of approximately 58,000 square meters, consisting of 272 housing units and neighborhood living facilities. Public facilities will be constructed as a separate building with one basement level and four above-ground floors.
In addition, as a public contribution in accordance with the upgrade of the zoning district, Dongjak-gu's Second Government Office Civil Service Center, a public health branch (relocating the current Sadang Health Branch), a senior care center, and a public parking lot will also be established.
To create a pedestrian-oriented street, the project area will include a 6-meter-wide public pedestrian passage, a 3-meter-wide front open space, and two public open spaces.
The plan also calls for expanding Sadang-ro 16-gil on the west side of the site from 10 meters to at least 12 meters wide, and widening Sadang-ro 20ga-gil on the south side from a 6-meter one-way road to a 10-meter road, thereby improving vehicle access and traffic flow.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government expects that, through this project, the area around Namsung Station will be transformed into a central living hub with a concentration of public facilities providing administrative, health, senior welfare, and parking services.
