"Strict Measures Against Tax Justice Violations"... Gimpo City Discloses Names of 202 Major Delinquent Taxpayers
Gimpo City, Total Delinquent Amount Reaches 15.1 Billion Won
Gimpo City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Byungsoo) announced on the 19th that it will publicly disclose the names of 202 individuals and entities who have failed to pay more than 10 million won in local taxes or local administrative penalties and charges for over a year.
The list includes a total of 202 delinquent taxpayers: 192 for local taxes (124 individuals and 68 corporations) and 10 for local administrative penalties and charges (3 individuals and 7 corporations). The total amount in arrears reaches 15.1 billion won.
Those subject to public disclosure were given prior notice and an opportunity to pay voluntarily or provide an explanation. However, if they failed to explain or pay without a valid reason, the final decision to disclose their information was made after review by the Local Tax Delinquency Review Committee. The disclosed information includes the name of the delinquent taxpayer (or corporate name and representative), age, address, amount in arrears, and type of tax, which can be checked on Wetax.
The public disclosure of high-value and habitual local tax delinquents takes place annually on the third Wednesday of November through Wetax. Previously, this information could be checked via separate announcements on city and provincial government websites, but starting this year, improvements have been made so that users can access the list of major delinquents directly through the ‘Wetax Shortcut’ banner on the city and provincial government websites.

Park Kyungae, head of the Collection Division, stated, “High-value and habitual tax delinquency seriously undermines tax justice. The city will strictly enforce strong measures against delinquents, including public disclosure, travel bans, home searches, and public auctions. In addition, we will do our utmost to foster a sound voluntary tax payment culture by strengthening various guidance and support measures so that taxpayers can pay faithfully before falling into arrears.”
