Gwangyang City Discloses List of Habitual Local Tax Delinquents
A Total of 143 Individuals and Entities Listed
Delinquent for Over One Year and Owing More Than 10 Million Won
On November 19, the city of Gwangyang, South Jeolla Province, announced that the names of 143 individuals and entities-including 27 newly added cases-who have failed to pay more than 10 million won in local taxes and non-tax revenues for over a year, have been made public on the websites of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Jeollanam-do, and Wetax.
The individuals and entities subject to this disclosure are those who, as of January 1 this year, have been in arrears for over a year on local taxes and non-tax revenues exceeding 10 million won. The information released includes the name (or corporate name), address, tax category, and amount in arrears.
Of the disclosed arrears, local taxes account for a total of 7,481,130,000 won, with 3,235,600,000 won owed by 97 individuals and 4,245,530,000 won owed by 40 corporations. Non-tax revenues total 217,690,000 won, with 64,530,000 won owed by 3 individuals and 153,160,000 won owed by 3 corporations.
The list was finalized after review and verification through last month. In March, Gwangyang City provided advance notice to new individuals and entities subject to disclosure and granted them a period of over six months to submit explanations. During this process, those who reduced their arrears to less than 10 million won through partial payment, or who paid more than 50% of the total amount owed, were excluded from the disclosure.
The list of delinquent taxpayers can be found on the websites of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and Jeollanam-do. It is also accessible via the "Disclosure of High-Value and Habitual Delinquents" banner on the Gwangyang City website (homepage).
