The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Taehee) will launch an integrated multicultural education program and a Korean language pre-completion system, linking the Gyeonggi Korean Language School and Self-Directed Learning Centers, starting in December. This initiative aims to provide Korean language education for multicultural students and to establish a stable educational environment.

This integrated multicultural education is the nation's first model to combine the "Gyeonggi Korean Language School," which offers intensive Korean language instruction, with Self-Directed Learning Centers overseen by the Ministry of Education. The "Korean language pre-completion system" is a policy that allows multicultural students to complete Korean language education before entering the public education system.

On November 18, the entrance ceremony for the Pocheon Gyeonggi Korean Language School was held at Daejin University in Pocheon, attended by Superintendent Lim Taehee, Pocheon Mayor Baek Younghyeon, EBS President Kim Yooyeol, Daejin University President Jang Seokhwan, Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly members Yoon Choongsik and Kim Seongnam, as well as around 130 students, teachers, and parents.

The Pocheon area opened seven Self-Directed Learning Centers in October. With the establishment of this integrated educational foundation in collaboration with the Gyeonggi Korean Language School, spaces previously used only for after-school activities will now be available during the school day to provide intensive Korean language instruction and adaptation support for multicultural students.

Additionally, the Pocheon Gyeonggi Korean Language School will be the first to pilot the Korean language pre-completion system, which provides intensive Korean language education to multicultural students before they enter public schools. This initiative aims to help multicultural students overcome learning difficulties caused by language barriers and to support their adaptation to school life. After evaluating the effectiveness of the pilot program, it will be expanded to all regions within the province.

In his congratulatory speech, Superintendent Lim Taehee stated, "We could not ignore the reality that multicultural students are unable to keep up with classes due to language barriers," adding, "We established the Gyeonggi Korean Language School to help students build a foundation in Korean before entering public education."

He continued, "As a result of the pilot operation, participation in school classes by multicultural students who received intensive Korean language instruction has improved," emphasizing, "We will expand the Korean language pre-completion system and integrated education throughout Gyeonggi Province."

Meanwhile, the Pocheon Gyeonggi Korean Language School will be operated primarily by Pocheon City Hall and is expected to serve as a regional collaborative model to enhance the effectiveness of multicultural education.
