However, there have been ongoing concerns about the lack of a space where visitors can comprehensively and systematically experience Hapcheon's history and culture. Many visitors to Hapcheon Museum and the Okjeon Ancient Tombs have consistently expressed the need for an experience and educational space, as well as a rest area, where they can gain a deeper understanding of the historical background.
In response, Hapcheon County decided to pursue the construction of the History Experience Center, reflecting the wishes of local residents and the needs of tourists.
The county plans to develop the History Experience Center not merely as an exhibition hall, but as a symbolic space embodying Hapcheon's identity, a venue for living history education, and a hub that connects local tourism and the economy.
In particular, by linking with the UNESCO World Heritage Okjeon Ancient Tombs, the center is expected to greatly enhance not only its academic and educational functions but also its international standing.
Kim Yooncheol, Governor of Hapcheon County, stated, "The construction of the History Experience Center is a very important task in preparing for Hapcheon's future," adding, "Through today's report meeting, we will fully incorporate the valuable insights of experts to create a space that the residents can be proud of."
