Surpassing Its Predecessor's Success on the Global Stage
The Japanese animated film "Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Arc" has become the first Japanese film to surpass 100 billion yen in global box office revenue.
On November 17, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun (Nikkei) and Asahi Shimbun reported that the worldwide revenue for "Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Arc" has reached 106.3 billion yen (approximately 1.0042 trillion won). This marks the first time a Japanese film has exceeded 100 billion yen in global box office earnings.
Specifically, the film earned 37.9 billion yen in Japan and 68.4 billion yen across 157 countries and regions. The total audience count was recorded at 89.17 million.
While the domestic box office revenue in Japan fell short of its predecessor, "Demon Slayer: Mugen Train," the film enjoyed even greater popularity overseas.
