Superintendent Kim Daejung: "Expanding Jeonnam-Style Glocal Education Connected to the World"
The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education is conducting a glocal training program for vocational high school students and student-athletes at Troy University in Alabama, USA. The program began on November 9 and will continue until November 23.
This program is operated based on the K-Edu Center established by the provincial office within Troy University. The office is guiding students through future-oriented global curricula, focusing on international language proficiency (ESL), glocal leadership, and career exploration that integrates vocational and sports education.

View original imageDuring the first week, students intensively completed an ESL program centered on vocabulary, speaking, and leadership. They also visited local history museums to directly explore the historical and cultural background of the American South.
All vocational and sports track students visited the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama plant in Montgomery, where they observed automated processes such as body production, welding, and painting. During a Q&A session with local employees, they learned about the competitiveness of Korean automotive technology and quality, as well as its evaluation in the global market.
The second week will feature advanced courses. Students will receive in-depth ESL education focused on presentations and discussions, and are scheduled to tour the Kia plant in Georgia and visit local companies and institutions. The program also includes observing local sports team training sessions, participating in professional coaching clinics, conversing with Korean international students, and attending faculty seminars.
During International Education Week, students will engage in participatory activities by planning and operating promotional booths for K-Edu and K-Culture themselves.
