Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwangdeok) successfully concluded competitions for four recreational sports on November 16 at the Namyangju Sports and Culture Center and Wabu Sports and Culture Center, with enthusiastic participation from citizens.

View original imageThe event was organized to promote a healthy lifestyle and leisure for citizens and to foster a recreational sports culture that bridges generations and social groups. The competitions for each sport were held simultaneously at the Namyangju Sports and Culture Center and Wabu Sports and Culture Center. More than 3,000 citizens participated in a vibrant day featuring four sports: soccer, jokgu (foot volleyball), taekwondo, and table tennis.
The "9th Namyangju Mayor’s Cup Women’s Sports Soccer Tournament" was held at Field B of the Namyangju Sports and Culture Center, where about 250 participants competed in a 6-a-side futsal format. Despite the short match times, the games were fiercely contested, and the support from families and citizens created a festive atmosphere.
At the jokgu court of the same venue, the "2nd Namyangju Association President’s Cup Jokgu Tournament" took place, with around 300 club members showcasing the skills they had honed over time in thrilling matches. Spectators heated up the atmosphere with passionate cheering, and there was active interaction among the various clubs.
In the indoor gymnasium, the "2025 Dasan Jeong Yak-yong Cup Taekwondo Festival" was held, drawing participants from kindergarteners to adults. About 2,500 athletes and their families took part, sharing the spirit and techniques of taekwondo through events such as poomsae, breaking, and demonstration. High-level performances in each category earned enthusiastic applause from the audience.
At the indoor gymnasium of the Wabu Sports and Culture Center, the "9th Namyangju Mayor’s Cup Women’s Sports Table Tennis Tournament" was held, with around 110 athletes engaging in intense matches that showcased precision and fast-paced rallies. The fierce competition from the group stage to the finals was met with constant cheers and support.
