Korea Economic Association Hosts 'Industry-Academia Cooperation' Open Innovation Forum
Joint Declaration for Establishing a Collaborative Framework
The International Management Institute, an affiliate of the Korea Economic Association, held the '2025 Market Validation Integrated Open Innovation Forum' at FKI Tower in Yeouido, Seoul, on November 17, in collaboration with the Seoul Center for Creative Economy & Innovation.
The event was attended by 16 major universities, including Seoul National University, Yonsei University, Sungkyunkwan University, Chung-Ang University, Ewha Womans University, Dongguk University, Inha University, and Gyeongsang National University. Key institutions such as the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the Seoul Center for Creative Economy & Innovation, the Korea Business Incubation Association, the Korea Institute of Patent Technology Promotion, and Shinhan Venture Investment also participated as partners.
A memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the 'Open Innovation (OI) Forum Council' was signed among the International Management Institute of the Korea Economic Association, the Korea Technology Commercialization Promotion Agency, and the participating universities. A joint declaration was also announced to establish a collaborative framework between universities and industry.

Oh Joonseok, Secretary General of the International Management Institute of the Korea Economic Association, stated, "Through the Open Innovation Forum, we expect university technologies to be transferred to industrial sites, leading to the creation of new business opportunities for companies and scaling up for startups. We will continue to identify and expand various models to foster a sustainable innovation ecosystem."
