Incheon Susanjeong Water Purification Plant to Suspend Operations Nov. 25-27... Tap Water Supply to Remain Normal
On November 14, the Incheon Metropolitan City Government announced that the operation of the Susanjeong Water Purification Plant will be temporarily suspended from November 25 to 27 due to the construction of an advanced water purification facility. However, the city will ensure a normal supply of tap water without any service interruption by switching the water supply system (redirecting water flow from adjacent purification plants).
The scheduled suspension period for the Susanjeong Water Purification Plant is from 10:00 a.m. on November 25 to 2:00 p.m. on November 27, totaling 52 hours.
The Susanjeong Water Purification Plant supplies tap water to Jung-gu (excluding Yeongjong), parts of Dong-gu, Michuhol-gu, and Namdong-gu, as well as the entire Yeonsu-gu area. This temporary suspension is a safety measure to facilitate the connection of major water pipelines as part of the advanced water purification facility construction.

View original imageTo minimize inconvenience to residents, the Waterworks Headquarters will maximize reservoir levels and implement a phased water supply system switch, allowing Namdong, Gongchon, and Bupyeong Water Purification Plants to supply water as substitutes. This will ensure a stable supply of tap water without any service interruptions.
The water supply system switch will be carried out in stages, taking into account the supply capacity of each purification plant. During the construction period, the Waterworks Headquarters and each waterworks office will operate emergency supply situation rooms to monitor water quality and quantity in real time. In addition, preemptive hydrant flushing and water quality monitoring will be conducted to minimize turbidity (cloudy water) caused by changes in water flow speed.
Although tap water will be supplied normally to all areas during the system switch, there is a possibility of reduced water pressure or decreased water volume in some high-altitude areas. The Waterworks Headquarters will provide advance notice to residents in these areas and supply bottled Incheon Sky Water to minimize inconvenience.
