Attending the 'Local-Industry-Academia-Research Roundtable' Hosted by Daegu Digital Innovation Promotion Agency

Kim Kyungsoo, Chairman of the Local Autonomy Committee, will hold a lecture and a discussion session in Daegu on November 14 to address regional balanced development and youth policies.

On that day, at 1:20 p.m. and 3:40 p.m., a 'Talk Concert' and a 'Ji-San-Hak-Yeon (Local Industry-Academia-Research) Discussion' will be held at the Future Job Creation Center (Creative Grand Auditorium) of Kyungpook National University and the conference room of the Daegu Digital Innovation Promotion Agency, respectively.

The topics will be 'Opening the Local Era with the Voice of Youth' and 'The Future of National Balanced Development through Local-Industry-Academia-Research Collaboration.'

Chairman Kim Kyungsoo is expected to share the policy vision of the Local Autonomy Committee, which is currently promoting the mitigation of concentration in the Seoul metropolitan area and balanced regional growth as key national agendas. This comes as President Lee Jaemyung recently delivered his second policy address to the National Assembly since taking office, explaining the direction and policy necessity of next year's 728 trillion won budget proposal and calling for bipartisan cooperation by stating, "This is Korea's first budget for the era of artificial intelligence (AI)."

The '5 Major Regions and 3 Special Zones Balanced Growth Strategy,' which Chairman Kim has been emphasizing, is regarded as a core vision that goes beyond addressing the concentration in the capital area and aims to foster autonomous growth in local regions. During this visit, he is expected to directly observe the virtuous cycle regional balanced development model-focusing on industry, talent, and quality of life-currently being promoted by the Daegu Digital Innovation Promotion Agency, an affiliate of the Daegu Future Innovation Growth Office, to realize the vision of the local era.

Kim Kyungsoo previously served as the 37th Governor of South Gyeongsang Province and as a member of the 20th National Assembly during the Moon Jaein administration, leading policies on local decentralization and national balanced development. He also worked in the Blue House during the Roh Moo-hyun administration as the Public Affairs Secretary, where he was responsible for political communication and message strategy.
