Airport Railroad to Develop Intelligent CCTV to Prevent Carrier Drop Accidents
MOU Signed with Korea Transportation Safety Authority on November 12
On November 12, Airport Railroad signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Transportation Safety Authority at Seoul Station for the 'Development of Object Recognition Intelligent AI CCTV Technology'.
This agreement was established to build a safety management system utilizing advanced technology, in response to a series of incidents where careless use of escalators by passengers has led to carrier drop accidents.
The two organizations have agreed to jointly develop an intelligent CCTV system that uses artificial intelligence (AI) deep learning technology to detect dangerous situations in real time, such as abandoned or falling carriers. When the CCTV detects a hazardous situation on an escalator, it will immediately issue a warning announcement through speakers to alert passengers.
Once the technology development is complete, Airport Railroad plans to conduct a pilot operation at Hongik University Station, where there is a high proportion of travelers and luggage usage, and then expand it to all stations.
