This year's competition, held under the theme "The Atmosphere of Jeongseon Embracing Nature," accepted submissions from March. After the first round of judging, a total of 16 works were selected in the categories of Oriental and Western painting.
The final award-winning works were determined through a fair second round of judging held on October 16, and an exhibition of the winning pieces is being held in the multipurpose hall of the new building at the Jeongseon Cultural Center from November 7 to 14.
The Grand Prize-winning piece, "Looking at Molwoonjeong" by Jang Hak-sang, was highly praised by the judges for its serene portrayal of late autumn sentiments through subtle and tranquil colors.
The Gold Prize was awarded to "Life with Molwundae" by Oh Yujin, who respected traditional techniques of Korean painting while capturing inner emotions. The Silver Prizes went to "Molwundae in Spring" by Yang Wonhee and "Bongjeong-ri" by Kim Hyunjung, respectively.
