The Busan Institute of Science and Technology Promotion (BISTEP), led by President Kim Youngbu, received the “Regional Innovation Award” at the “2025 Korean Technology Innovation Society Fall Conference” held in Jeju on November 6, in recognition of its contribution to building a region-specific science and technology innovation ecosystem.

View original imageThis academic conference, held from November 6 to 8 under the theme “Science and Technology Innovation and Future Strategies,” was organized as a venue to discuss ways to advance region-centered innovation systems in the rapidly changing technological environment.
BISTEP has continued multi-layered activities for regional innovation, including establishing science and technology policies tailored to Busan, discovering and planning regional R&D projects, and operating evaluation systems.
Since 2024, BISTEP has expanded its scope by strengthening its support system for higher education in science and technology, which has been highly regarded for its efforts to foster local talent and expand research infrastructure.
In addition, at this conference, BISTEP directly organized special sessions on “Global Technology Policy Trends and Region-Led Growth Strategies” and “Regional R&D Investment and the Development of the Science and Technology Talent Ecosystem,” providing a forum to discuss policy tasks for regional innovation and directions for ultra-wide-area cooperation.
