"Please Refrain from Honking and Use Public Transportation During the Listening Test"
On the eve of the 2026 College Scholastic Ability Test, 17,731 test takers in Gwangju will head to 40 test centers. On November 11, the Gwangju Metropolitan Government and Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency announced that they will implement comprehensive special traffic management starting at 6 a.m. on November 13 to ensure that students arrive at their test centers safely.
On that day, the city government and the five district offices will operate six comprehensive situation rooms from 6 a.m., overseeing parking order, emergency transportation, and noise control. A total of 543 personnel from 18 organizations, including civil servants, police officers, and exemplary drivers, will be mobilized. Around 70 traffic controllers will be stationed at 14 city bus terminals and starting points, as well as at seven subway stations near test centers, to manage on-time bus operations and provide directions to the test centers.
Traffic controllers will be deployed on major roads within a 2-kilometer radius of each test center to manage congestion, and illegal parking enforcement will be intensified within a 200-meter radius. For the 38 city bus routes passing by test centers, bus frequency will be increased during the morning commute (6:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.), and notices inside the buses will indicate which stops serve each test center.
On the day of the test, public institutions will delay their opening hours by one hour, and aircraft takeoffs and landings will be prohibited during the English listening test (1:10 p.m. to 1:35 p.m.). Test takers with disabilities can use the transportation support center for the mobility-impaired by making a reservation in advance. If a student is delayed due to a traffic accident or confusion about the test center location, they can call 112 for emergency transport support by a patrol car.
The Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency will deploy 403 personnel, including police officers and exemplary drivers, along with 76 patrol cars and motorcycles, at major intersections within a 2-kilometer radius of the test centers. Twenty drop-off zones for test takers have also been designated.
