In the 1-kilometer section under the West Coast Expressway in the Doksan-dong area, 90 juniper trees and 14,450 rose bushes have been planted to reduce fine dust and convert the gray space into a green area.
Additionally, in a 1,500-square-meter area near the Doksan Pedestrian Bridge, non-native plants are being removed and riverbank vegetation is being restored with a focus on native species. Upon completion, approximately 7.6 kilometers of the Anyangcheon section in Geumcheon-gu will be connected as an ecological garden path, providing residents with a waterfront relaxation space where they can enjoy nature within the city.
This project is significant in that it transforms gray spaces under highways and adjacent to railways into nature-friendly areas that support both wildlife habitats and recreational functions. It is expected to expand green spaces that residents can directly experience and to improve the urban landscape. The total project cost is 12.4 billion won, and the project is being carried out from 2022 through next year.
