Sangheon Park, CEO of the Yeongwol Culture and Tourism Foundation, has received the 2025 Korea Social Contribution Award, hosted and organized by Sisatoday. The Korea Social Contribution Award is presented annually to organizations and individuals who have contributed to community development and the promotion of public interest, evaluating social value in various fields such as culture, arts, education, environment, and welfare.

View original imageCEO Sangheon Park worked at the Gangwon Research Institute for 27 years, where he led the nation’s first research on addressing regional extinction and proposed the Hometown Love Donation Program as a solution. In particular, he played a key role in providing feedback and consultation during the enactment of the Act and Enforcement Decree on the Collection of Hometown Love Donations, laying the groundwork for the system’s design.
Since becoming CEO of the Yeongwol Culture and Tourism Foundation, he has implemented a variety of strategies to promote the Hometown Love Donation Program in Yeongwol County and to achieve balanced regional development. These efforts were recognized with a commendation from the Minister of the Interior and Safety at the 3rd Hometown Love Day ceremony.
In managing the foundation, he has established a sustainable foundation for the growth of the local cultural ecosystem by expanding support for local artists, enhancing festival content, and improving accessibility to cultural experiences.
