Ansan's Haengnanggok Port and Heungseong Port Selected for Fisheries Village New Vitality Promotion Project
100 Billion Won to Be Invested in Improving Living and Safety Infrastructure in Underdeveloped Fishing Villages
On November 8, the city of Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, announced that Haengnanggok Port and Heungseong Port have been selected for the "2026 Fisheries Village New Vitality Promotion Project" hosted by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.
The "Fisheries Village New Vitality Promotion Project" is a fisheries village regeneration policy that will invest a total budget of 3 trillion won in 300 fishing villages nationwide. The project aims to transform fishing villages and ports into innovative economic spaces and enhance their sustainability by improving vulnerable living and safety infrastructure, as well as community services in these areas.

Through the public competition, a total of 30 locations were selected as project sites, and within Gyeonggi Province, Haengnanggok Port and Heungseong Port were the only sites chosen under the fisheries village recovery model.
With this selection, the city plans to invest a total of approximately 10 billion won, including about 7.9 billion won in national and provincial funding, over the next four years from 2025 to 2029 to improve the living and safety infrastructure of underdeveloped fishing villages.
To ensure the effective implementation of the project, the city will form a local council consisting of public officials, experts in fisheries village and port regeneration, and local residents. Through meetings and consultations, the council will establish both the basic and implementation plans for the project.
