North Gyeongsang Office of Education Selects Five "Dream Growth Small Schools"... Bonghyeon, Jangsu, Suryun Elementary, Yongseong, Ssangnim Middle Schools
The North Gyeongsang Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Jong-sik) announced on November 7, 2025, that Yeongju Bonghyeon Elementary School, Yeongju Jangsu Elementary School, Seongju Suryun Elementary School, Gyeongsan Yongseong Middle School, and Goryeong Ssangnim Middle School have been selected as the "2025 Dream Growth Small Schools."
The Dream Growth Small School certification system has been implemented by the North Gyeongsang Provincial Office of Education since 2020 to enhance the quality of rural small school operations by establishing joint certification standards for schools participating in the "Small School Revitalization Project." Five schools are certified each year, and with this year’s selection, a total of 30 schools have received the Dream Growth Small School certification.

View original imageThis selection targeted 200 schools participating in the North Gyeongsang Provincial Office of Education’s "Small School Revitalization Project" (Small School Free School District System, Small School Cultivation Project, Gyeongbuk-Style Joint Curriculum). The five final schools were chosen after a comprehensive review of the following criteria: student enrollment growth rate, media promotion performance, fidelity and appropriateness in project implementation, principal’s commitment and staff participation, curriculum operation, unique school projects, and efforts to secure external funding.
Yeongju Bonghyeon Elementary School, located in Bonghyeon-myeon, Yeongju, was selected as a certified school this year. The school is strengthening career education in collaboration with the local community to achieve its goal of "a school of togetherness, experience-centered community and character education." It is conducting project-based learning linked to the community and operating customized curricula tailored to the characteristics of each grade group.
Yeongju Jangsu Elementary School is expanding classroom learning into the local community to realize experience-centered education that connects life and learning. To foster a culture of learning and growth together with people, the village, and the world, the school is building a cooperative system between the school and the community by linking local resources through programs such as "Kimchi-making experience," "Water Play Festival," and "Urban Culture Experience."
Seongju Suryun Elementary School is a "small but strong small school" where students, parents, and teachers are all happy. It operates as an IB-style inquiry school, runs a joint curriculum in partnership with Suryun Middle School, and serves as a leading school for autonomous school hours.
Gyeongsan Yongseong Middle School, under the goal of "a small but strong school, a school where students are happy," focuses on the free school district system and carries out unique projects in the fields of arts, sports, career guidance, welfare, and environmental improvement. The school operates curricula aimed at enhancing individual student growth and happiness, as well as strengthening the school’s educational competitiveness.
Goryeong Ssangnim Middle School is striving to become a happy small school where students are happy, parents are confident, and the community grows together. The school is improving educational conditions for small schools and developing differentiated educational programs, such as a writer internship program, visits to museums, science centers, art museums, and local companies, as well as VR experience programs and various career design initiatives.
