[Photo] Culture Minister Holds Press Conference Opposing Redevelopment Near Jongmyo Shrine

On November 7, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Choi Hwi-young and Commissioner of the National Heritage Administration Heo Min visited Jongmyo Shrine, toured the main hall, and stated, "We will take every possible measure to lead the effort in protecting our cultural heritage." Minister Choi held a press conference to announce his position following the Supreme Court’s final ruling against him, the plaintiff, in the lawsuit to confirm the invalidity of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's amended ordinance on cultural heritage protection, which allows the redevelopment project in the Sewoon District 4 area near Jongmyo Shrine to proceed.
