Goyang City is working to strengthen its global distribution infrastructure so that local roasteries and coffee companies can directly connect to the global market, with the goal of becoming a coffee-specialized city. The Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC Busan), under the Export Development Directorate General of the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, supports trade and business expansion between the two countries.
Through this agreement, the two organizations will cooperate in various areas, including: ▲ global coffee green bean distribution collaboration ▲ joint efforts for sustainable coffee industry development ▲ promotion of agri-food exports and imports between the two countries.
In particular, starting with Indonesia, Goyang City plans to establish a "128 Coffee Belt Countries Network" by 2028, aiming to become the hub of coffee distribution in Asia.
The signing ceremony was attended by Lee Donghwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City; Husodo Kuncoro Agti, Director of the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center in Korea; Marviana Sandi, Counsellor for Economic Affairs at the Embassy of Indonesia in Korea; Kim Hyeongchan, President of the Goyang Coffee Association; Ahn Sooyong, CEO of Sky One Networks; and representatives from Good Neighbors Global Impact Foundation, among others.
The event featured a symbolic exchange ceremony in which Indonesian coffee green beans and Goyang City's specialty "Gawaji rice" were exchanged, representing mutual benefit and trust by trading each country's signature agricultural products-coffee and rice-as a symbol of cooperation.
A coffee cupping event was also held, featuring Indonesian green coffee beans produced with support from Good Neighbors Global Impact Foundation, which drew significant interest from attendees.
The city expects that this agreement will strengthen the foundation for local coffee companies to enter overseas markets. In addition, through collaboration with the Indonesian coffee industry, the city anticipates a stable supply of high-quality green beans, which is expected to have a positive impact on coffee-related startups and job creation.
