Samsung C&T’s Homenic Introduces ‘AI Energy Saving Mode’ at Raemian One Perla
Samsung C&T Engineering & Construction Group has unveiled an innovative solution that can proactively prevent the chronic issue of “electricity bill surges” caused by the progressive rate system during summer and winter in apartment complexes. With this, the company has once again demonstrated the evolution of its platform as a home-tech leader.
On November 6, Samsung C&T announced that it has developed the “Homenic AI Energy Saving Mode” (Energy Saving AI), which analyzes each household’s electricity consumption patterns and predicts usage to automatically control devices. Starting with the Raemian One Perla complex in Bangbae District 6, the company will be the first in the Korean construction industry to apply this service.
■ Samsung C&T’s Homenic evolves into an artificial intelligence (AI) service platform.
The core of the newly introduced “Homenic AI Energy Saving Mode” lies in its household-customized AI algorithm. This service goes beyond the conventional method of simply displaying electricity usage by analyzing power consumption patterns in real time and accurately forecasting future usage. A key feature is that, when the system predicts that a household is about to enter a higher progressive rate bracket with sharply increased electricity charges, it immediately sends a preemptive alert to residents through the Homenic App.
This completely overturns the previous practice where residents only realized the high charges after receiving their electricity bills. Now, as soon as residents receive the notification, they can easily activate the “Energy Saving Mode” via the app.

Once Energy Saving Mode is activated, the system automatically controls major power-consuming devices such as air conditioners, lighting, and ventilation equipment via the in-home wall pad, based on the resident’s pre-set optimized modes. For example, the system may raise the air conditioner’s target temperature by 1 to 2 degrees or automatically adjust the brightness of unnecessary lighting within the unit.
This automated control solution is expected to significantly reduce unnecessary energy consumption and also provide tangible cost savings for users.
■ Joint patent application by Samsung C&T and CVnet, leading the smart residential environment
Samsung C&T is also focusing on securing its technological edge by jointly applying for a patent with CVnet for this technology. It is being recognized as the first case in Korea where a construction company has implemented an AI energy-saving algorithm in an apartment app service.
Ji Soyoung, Executive Director at Samsung C&T, stated, “This service was developed in response to the recurring reality of households experiencing ‘electricity bill surges’ due to increased cooling in summer and heating in winter. By analyzing and predicting consumption data in real time for each household, and combining preemptive notifications with AI-powered automatic control, our solution enables residents to actively manage seasonal electricity bill risks in their daily lives.”
She added, “Our household-customized energy-saving solution not only reduces the burden of electricity bills for residents, but will also be developed into a citizen-oriented AI service platform in line with the national AI transformation policy.”
