Gwangju City to Raise Monthly Allowance for National Merit Recipients from 150,000 Won to 180,000 Won
Gwangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 6th that it will increase the monthly Veterans Honor Allowance and Veterans Merit Allowance paid to national merit recipients from 150,000 won to 180,000 won starting in 2026.
The city decided to raise the allowances to improve the welfare and honor of national merit recipients and their families, aiming to enhance their pride and promote a culture of social respect for national merit recipients.
With this increase, about 4,000 national merit recipients will receive the higher allowance starting next year, with a total expenditure expected to reach 8.4 billion won. This represents an increase of approximately 1.8 billion won compared to the previous year.
