The 17th Anheung Steamed Bun Festival will be held for three days from November 7 to 9 at the Anheung Steamed Bun Morakmorak Village in Anheung-myeon, Hoengseong County.
Held under the slogan "Hotter! Sweeter!", this year's festival welcomes visitors with a variety of sights, foods, and activities that will warm both body and soul in the chilly November air.
The festival will kick off at 4:30 p.m. on the first day, November 7, with a Samulnori performance by Minjok Leadership Academy and a pre-show by the Kim Jeongseon Band. The opening ceremony will follow at 5:00 p.m., featuring a spectacular celebratory performance by Jung Mi-ae, Heo Minyoung, Climax Crew, Koo Jaeyoung, and others.
On November 8 at 5:00 p.m., the 2nd "Saturday, Saturday is Singer!" competition will take place, with talented participants from across the country delivering passionate performances. The celebratory performance by "Cherry Girls & Ryeohwa" will further elevate the festival atmosphere.
On the final day, November 9, the festival will conclude with the "Residents' Singing Contest" featuring Hoengseong County's honorary ambassador Hong Seongho at 3:00 p.m., wrapping up three days of warmth and sweetness.
Throughout the three days of the festival, a special stage will host various events such as the steamed bun eating contest, steamed bun O·X quiz, and steamed bun tower stacking. In particular, the "Steamed Bun Eating Contest" on the afternoon of November 8 will feature the popular mukbang YouTuber "Myeon Sangho," adding to the excitement. Local community performances and a show by the Echo Volunteer Group will also take place on the special stage.
At the Anheung Handmade Steamed Bun sales booth, visitors who purchase a box of buns will receive a "Catch the Golden Steamed Bun" lottery ticket. Prizes include a half-tael gold bar, an extra box of steamed buns, and agricultural gift certificates, adding to the fun of the festival.
Meanwhile, the "Goblin Event," inspired by the legend of Anheung Steamed Buns and goblins, will be held on both November 8 and 9. Surprise competitions with goblins appearing throughout the festival grounds promise a unique and entertaining experience.
In addition, the festival will be filled with a local food market, sales of regional agricultural specialties, handicraft shops, steamed bun-themed craft activities for children, a traditional play experience zone, a camping-themed healing zone, a flower photo zone, and an outdoor playground, offering a wide range of attractions and activities for all visitors.
